HBO MAX has uploaded other alternative DC Comics film cuts, but it won’t brag about this one. As CBR and Verge records, WarnerMedia Comms Executive Johanna Fuentes has confirmed on Twitter that HBO Max accidentally uploaded the TV version that was censored from 2020 Mangsa films. Even though it is registered as a R-rated version of the theater, play it and you will get the same edit as ‘family’ the same as you see in TNT.
Fuentes promised that HBO Max will upload a R-rated movie, even though he did not provide a timeline. The non-censored take will be the only version on the service, Exec added, and is already available for about a year.
It is not clear how the slip-up occurs. We have asked WarnerMedia for further comments. With that, HBO MAX certainly does not refuse to be dirty or violent. This is a shameful moment for streaming providers still in the early stages, but it does not represent sudden liver changes.
Update 11/28 9:10 AM ET: WarnerMedia tells Engadget it has uploaded the R-rated version.
