Samsung posts record revenue but reveals profit decline for Q4 2021

Samsung’s consolidation income for the fourth quarter of 2021 reached 76.57 trillion Won Korea (US $ 63.7 billion), the technology giant has revealed the latest profit report. It was a high quarterly record for companies, which said that its income growth for this period was driven mainly by expanded sales from smartphones, TV and household appliances.

The operating profit of KRW 13.87 trillion (US $ 11.5 billion) in the quarter ended December 31, 2021 was lower than the previous quarter, however, because the bonus was distributed to employees for this season. The company has also reported a new historical revenue of KRW 279.6 trillion (U $ 232.5 billion) for all 2021, along with KRW 51.63 trillion (US $ 42.9 billion) in operating profit.

Samsung’s memory business, which is usually the biggest money maker, has decreased income from the previous quarter because of the global supply chain crisis and a slight decrease in price. Furthermore, while demand for memory products remains strong, the company says it does not encourage sales aggressively as usual after considering the level of inventory and market prospects. The memory division posted a consolidated revenue of KRW 26.01 trillion (US $ 21.6 billion) and operating profit of KRW 8.84 trillion (US $ 7.35 billion) for the fourth quarter of 2021. In the third quarter, he posted KRW 26.41 Trillion (US $ 21.96 billion (US $ 21.96 billion)) in consolidated and KRW revenues was 10.06 trillion (US $ 8.36 billion) in operating profit.

The combined electronic business and Samsung consumer, now called a cellular experience or MX, has posted KRW 28.95 trillion (US $ 24 billion) in consolidated and KRW revenues 2.66 trillion (US $ 2.2 billion) in operating profit. A little increase in income was mainly due to strong sales of its premium smartphone, namely the fold and Galaxy S series devices, as well as PCs, tablets, and Wirasles during the holiday season. As in the previous quarter, the division profitability was influenced by Samsung’s marketing efforts to fold and for the launch of the upcoming model this year.

Meanwhile, the company’s mobile panel business saw an increase in income because of a solid demand for a new smartphone. Losses become greater for Samsung’s large panel business, because of the price decline for LCD and initial costs related to the quantum dot display. Samsung also saw strong sales for premium TV and its lifestyle, but business visual display recorded lower operating profit quarterly due to the increasing cost of material and logistics.

For 2022, Samsung expects its memory business growth from higher server requests and in the business panel display from the release of a new smartphone. However, the company explained in its report that it also expects Covid-related supply problems and other problems to survive and influence its operations. Apart from these obstacles, he believed in the MX business would still provide income and profit growth led by new superiority and with a higher sales of 5G mass markets. Samsung has an unbalanced event scheduled for February 9, where it will reveal the next S-Series lead to replace the Galaxy S21 lineup.
